![]() This truth can be found in the Book of Isaiah and speaks to those entities in life that lead us to suffer. However, there is another truth that gives us reason for the courage Jesus proclaimed. In these situations, we have to remind ourselves - suffering is a part of life. Even worse, we have tried to do right by following God and still find ourselves suffering. There are those among us struggling with finances, illness, marriages. How can we be sure of this though? In moments of suffering, being courageous can feel difficult, if not impossible. Jesus’ words show us that suffering is temporary, while victory in God is not only certain, but eternal. Jesus knew that though people would rise against Him, He would do as He said, conquer the world. He lived through suffering, yet Jesus did not tell His disciples to be afraid. He was predestined to experience hardship, culminating to His death on the cross. Every trial and obstacle we face has an end date. That deeper truth is that our present-day suffering is temporary. How Can Christians Have Courage in Suffering? This is why He can confidently tell His disciples, and therefore us, to be encouraged. However, there is an even greater truth, a truth that Jesus knows. ![]() Initially, the peace that Jesus offers, and His commandment to be courageous appear counterintuitive to suffering. Yes, suffering is indeed a part of the human experience. Here we witness Jesus acknowledging a sad reality, while still offering hope. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.” ( John 16:33) He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” (Matthew 5:43-45, NIV) “Bless those who persecute you bless and do not curse.” (Romans 12:14, NIV) “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: ‘Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.’ He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.” (Galatians 3:13-14, NIV) “Abraham was now very old, and the Lord had blessed him in every way.“ I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. ![]() ![]() This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,’ declares the Lord.” (Isaiah 54:17, NIV) “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. Scripture “‘No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. * Name any sickness or spirits that you feel have been coming against you. Specifically I reject and repel: infirmity, infection, pain, inflammation, malignancies, allergies, viruses, _*, every form of witchcraft and every type of stress.įinally, LORD, I thank You that through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, I have passed out from under the curse and entered into the blessing of Abraham whom You blessed in all things: exaltation, health, reproductiveness, prosperity, victory, God’s favor, and God’s friendship. I do not submit! I resist him, drive him from me and exclude him from me in the name of Jesus. I resist the devil: all his pressures, his attacks, his deceptions, and every instrument or agent he would seek to use against me. Having submitted to You, Lord, I do as Your Word directs. I submit myself afresh to You today in unreserved obedience. Now I declare, O LORD, that You and You alone are my God and beside You there is no other a just God and a Savior, the Father, the Son and the Spirit, and I worship You! Having forgiven them, I bless them in the name of the Lord. If there are those who have been speaking or praying against me, or seeking to harm me, or who have rejected me, I forgive them (name people if you know them). This is my heritage as a servant of the Lord and my righteousness is from You, O Lord of Hosts. No weapon that is formed against me shall prosper and every tongue that arises against me in judgment I do condemn.
